Code of conduct

The rules are here so everyone gets the shard they came for: a fair, classic Britannia with good company. They cover the game, our forums and our Discord, and anyone who uses your account. Rules can change as the shard grows; this page is always the current version.

1. Accounts and households
  • Up to three accounts per household. Your accounts reach both realms with the same login.
  • Your account is yours alone. Don't share it, lend it or log into anyone else's. Whatever happens on your account is your responsibility.
  • Staff will never ask for your password, in game, on Discord or anywhere else. Anyone who does is not staff: report them.
  • Don't use extra accounts, VPNs or other tricks to get around the household limit or a ban. Every account involved will be closed.
2. More than one character at once
  • PvM, crafting and gathering: you may play more than one of your accounts at the same time.
  • PvP: one character, always. No damage, healing, walls, blocking, pet commands or scouting from a second character in a fight with players, and no quick switching between characters to do any of it.
  • Arena events and games (tournaments, Last Man Pentagram, crate race, Bomberman, capture the flag and the like): one character per player.
  • At most five bulk order collector characters per player.
3. Macroing and unattended play

The old Defiance rule, kept as it was:

  • Allowed: training a skill with a macro, unattended, inside your own house.
  • Not allowed unattended: gathering anything (ore, logs, fish, cotton, hides, reagents), buying from vendors, begging, stealing, killing monsters or levelling pets.
  • Attended macros are fine. If you're at the keyboard and answer when someone speaks to you, a Razor macro that mines or chops is allowed.
  • Staff check by talking to you. Not answering for a couple of minutes while gathering counts as unattended: the first time is a warning or a short stay in jail, the next is longer, and repeat offenders lose the right to gather.
4. Clients, Razor and other programs
  • Play with our client from the installer, or any ClassicUO-compatible client.
  • Razor is allowed and comes with our client: hotkeys, macros, agents, counters and the rest.
  • Not allowed: speed hacks, modified clients, packet editors, bots, map hacks that show what the game hides, and programs that press keys or click for you outside Razor (AutoHotkey, EasyUO and the like).
  • No combat scripts in PvP. No auto-heal, auto-cure, potion-chugging, auto-loot or auto-drop loops in a fight with players. It's about intent: a healing loop that trains Healing in your house is fine; one that keeps you alive at a gate, or heals your party in a fight, is not.
5. PvP, murder and fair fights

Felucca is dangerous by design. Attacking, stealing and killing outside town are part of the game, with the classic consequences: guards in town, criminal and murderer status, and murder counts.

  • No boxing or trapping. A player you attack must always have one clear way out, including when you gate them somewhere to kill them.
  • No newbie killers. Don't make new characters to kill players who are away from the keyboard in town.
  • Don't block public moongates, dungeon entrances or level transitions with items, pets or houses.
  • In events, play the event. Don't hold up a game by hiding, idling or blocking other players.
6. Language and behaviour
  • Be decent. Trash talk in a fight is part of UO; slurs, threats and harassment are not.
  • Zero tolerance for racist, homophobic, sexist or other hateful slurs, and for real-life threats.
  • No guilds, names or titles built around hate groups or real-life politics.
  • Don't follow players around to spam insults, and don't keep at someone who has asked you to stop.
  • Respect the staff. Disagree politely and appeal through the proper channel; abuse of staff is not tolerated.
  • Don't pretend to be staff, in game or anywhere else.
7. Griefing, scamming and doxxing
  • Griefing is spoiling other people's game outside the rules of the game: trapping players so they have to page staff to get out, endless harassment, blocking gates, using ghosts to spy on dungeons for a PvP group.
  • Scamming is any dishonest trade: swapping an item at the last moment, lying about what you're selling, taking payment for a service you don't provide. Report it with screenshots; staff can take back what was gained and ban the scammer.
  • Doxxing, finding and sharing anyone's real-life personal details, gets an immediate and permanent ban from the game, the forums and Discord. That includes guessing in public at who a staff member is in real life.
8. Real money and other shards
  • No real money trading. Never buy or sell gold, items, houses, accounts, characters or services for real money or crypto, and don't offer to.
  • Staff never sell anything. Game masters don't create, sell or trade gear, gold or advantages. Donations, if they ever come, are cosmetic only.
  • No trading between Moongate Legacy and other shards or games.
  • Don't advertise other shards, servers or products in game, on the forums or on Discord.
9. Bugs and exploits
  • Found a bug? Report it on the forums or Discord. You'll be thanked.
  • Using a bug for gain, or telling other players how to, means a ban for every account involved.
  • Don't try to break into, overload or read the traffic of our servers. Attempts are logged and reported.
10. Housing
  • House limits are set by the game per account; don't get around them with extra accounts.
  • Keep roads, gates and dungeon entrances clear, and leave your neighbours a way in and out.
  • No offensive shapes, signs or messages built from decorations.
11. Names

Names of characters, guilds, pets, vendors, houses and items must fit a fantasy world that everyone can enjoy. Not allowed:

  • hateful, sexual, crude or bodily names, or slurs in any spelling;
  • names of real political figures or criminals;
  • names that mock or impersonate another player or a staff member;
  • gibberish, or near-identical names made to confuse players in PvP.

A bad name gets a request to change it; if it isn't changed, staff will change it. Repeat offenders are banned.

12. Discord and forums
  • The same rules apply on Discord and the forums as in game.
  • No real-life politics, no NSFW content, no spam, no advertising.
  • Stay on topic in each channel and board; arguments go to direct messages or stop.
13. Lost items and staff help
  • Staff replace items, pets, houses or characters only when a bug, a server problem or a staff mistake caused the loss. Dying, being robbed, a bad trade or a forgotten house refresh are part of the game.
  • For help in game, use the Help button on your paperdoll. On Discord, use the support channel.
  • Reporting a player? Screenshots or a video make it quick.
14. How rules are enforced
  • Depending on how serious it is: a warning, jail, a temporary ban, or a permanent ban.
  • Staff may ask you questions about something they're looking into. Refusing to cooperate, or lying, counts against you.
  • No list of rules covers everything. Behaviour that clearly harms other players or the shard can be acted on even if it isn't written here.
  • You can appeal on Discord through the support channel.

An account here is a privilege, not a right. Logging in or posting on our Discord and forums means you accept these rules.
