Every age of Ultima Online. Step through.

Remember the first time you stepped through a moongate? The bank in Britain at rush hour, the West Britain Bank gossip, a red name on the horizon, your first GM skill? It's all still here, on three shards, free.

Tired of shards that don't look like UO any more?

Neon armour that hurts your eyes. Hues no blacksmith ever forged. So much custom art you can't tell which game you're playing. Not here.

Raw, original UO

Britannia as Origin drew it: the original art, the original hues, the original feel. No custom art packs, no rainbow gear, nothing that wasn't in the game you remember.

Renaissance: pure

The 2000 game, untouched. No custom items, no custom loot, no extras. Just UO.

Shadows: a little extra

Age of Shadows with the Defiance Network AOS scripts: events, dungeons, quests and rares. All built on UO's own art, so it still looks like Britannia.

If you've been looking for the game you used to play, this is the place for you.

Renaissance

The Trammel and Felucca split, 2000

Britannia as it was: two facets, plain weapons and armour, skill and reputation over loot. No custom content, nothing added. The game you remember.

Shadows

Age of Shadows, 2003

Item properties, Malas and Luna, necromancers and paladins, plus the Defiance Network AOS content: Lost Lands, the Cursed Cave, town invasions, rares and duels in Luna's Grand Arena.

Endless

Every expansion, up to today

Every land, house style and system the game has added since, with the Defiance Network AOS content too. For players who want it all.

The Town Crier

The moongates are being raised

Moongate Legacy opens soon with Renaissance and Shadows. Endless follows. Join the forums to hear first, and to tell us what you remember best.

From the Guildmaster

What's in, what's out

Renaissance is kept pure. Shadows brings back Defiance Network AOS: its events, games and dungeons. Tell us on the forums what else belongs.

Remember when...
  • you macroed Hiding in your house all night, and woke up at 100?
  • the bank in Britain was the busiest place in the world?
  • you lost everything to a PK, and came straight back for more?
  • your first house deed cost more than everything you owned?
  • "vendor buy bank guards" was a complete sentence?
  • a moongate took you somewhere you'd never been?

Come back. Or come for the first time.

How to play

Free, and about ten minutes from here to the Britain bank.

  1. Install Ultima Online Classic

The game's files are free from EA. Install them once; we never ship them ourselves.

    Get UO Classic from EA
  2. Download the Moongate Legacy client

A modern client built on ClassicUO. Unzip it anywhere and run GUO.exe. It finds your UO install by itself.

    Download for Windows

Windows may warn about an unrecognised app the first time. Choose "More info", then "Run anyway".

  3. Log in and choose your age

Pick Moongate Legacy, then Renaissance, Shadows or Endless. New here? Type the account name and password you'd like, and your account is made on the spot.

Prefer your own client? Connect to play.moongatelegacy.com, port 2593.

Life in our Britannia

The way it was meant to be played: earned, dangerous and never lonely.

Earn it

No instant 7x GM characters. Your skills are yours because you trained them, the way every veteran remembers.

Events, always

Capture the flag, last man standing, gladiator fights, monster quests, town invasions, the crate race and Bomberman.

Real PvP

Factions, guild wars, red names and duels in Luna's Grand Arena. Felucca is as dangerous as you remember.

One account, every age

One login takes you to Renaissance, Shadows and later Endless. Play the era you're in the mood for.

Macro the old way

Train skills with a macro in your own house, with Razor included. Just don't leave a character gathering unattended.

New here?

Our new player guide and the Mentors on Discord will have you on your feet in an evening.

Rules of the realm

Short, fair, and much the same as the rules veterans of Defiance Network AOS will remember.

  1. Be decent. No racial slurs, no harassment, no following a player around to spam insults. Staff may remove anyone who can't manage basic courtesy.
  2. One character in arena events. Capture the flag, tournaments, last man standing and the like: one client each.
  3. No boxing or trapping. A player you attack must always have one clear way out, including when you gate them somewhere to kill them.
  4. No exploiting bugs. Found one? Report it on Discord or the forums, and you'll be thanked.
  5. No advertising other servers or products.
  6. No cheat programs. No speed hacks or modified clients. Razor is allowed, and comes with our client.
  7. No account theft. No hacking or guessing other people's passwords.
  8. No unattended gathering. Collecting ore, wood, cotton, gold or any other resource while away from the keyboard is not allowed. Training a skill with a macro in your own house is fine.
  9. Respect the staff. Disagree politely; abuse of staff is not tolerated.
  10. At most five bulk order collector characters per player.
  11. No newbie characters to kill AFK players in town.
  12. No automated combat scripts in PvP. No auto-heal, auto-cure, potion-chug, auto-loot or auto-drop loops in a fight. It's about intent: a healing loop to train skill in your house is fine; one that keeps you alive while you sit at a gate, or heals your party in a fight, is not.
  13. Up to three accounts per household.
  14. Staff never ask for your password. Not in game, not on Discord, not anywhere.

An account here is a privilege, not a right. Playing on our shards or posting on our Discord and forums means you accept these rules.
